What If the Whole World Spoke One Language and Lived in One Country?

A conceptual illustration of a world without borders, where different countries, cultures, and landscapes blend together harmoniously, symbolizing unity and shared human experiences

Russians are the people who read the most books in the world.

Their authors are also world-famous.
Let’s say I want to read a book written in Russian.
But I don’t know the Russian language.
So, I can’t read the book directly.
I have to wait for a translation.
And usually, that translation doesn’t happen directly from Russian to Bengali.
First, it's translated from Russian to English, and then from English to Bengali.
In this process, the beauty of the writing gets hurt while going from Russian to English, and then it gets completely destroyed when it goes from English to Bengali.
As a result, the book is no longer as enjoyable as it should be.

In the same way, books in French, German, Latin, and Spanish also lose their charm to me.
Even if I understand the language, I still won’t get the joy of reading it in my mother tongue.
What could bring more joy than reading in your native language?

Similarly, when I want to watch a Japanese, Korean, or Turkish movie or series, I have to depend on Bengali or English subtitles or dubbing, staring like a thirsty bird waiting for rain.
But even then, the experience is not complete.
It feels like I’m enjoying something as a favor, not fully mine to cherish.
What a strange situation...🙂‍↕️

But imagine if there was only one language in the entire world.
Then we wouldn't face these problems.

Now think, what if all the countries on Earth were just one single country?
No borders at all.
Everyone would be a citizen of one country.
The name of that country would be Earth.

In that country called Earth, I could freely wander around the beautiful islands of New Zealand.
I could spend vacations by building a small cottage by the jungle near the river at the foot of the Alps in Switzerland.
I could float on the Dead Sea in Jordan, dive in Bali, Indonesia.
I’d be amazed seeing the Pyramids, Chichen Itza, Great Wall, Taj Mahal, and more.

I could roam around the Bering Strait, Bosphorus, the Mediterranean, Palk, and Malacca Straits with ease.
I wouldn't need any visa or passport to go anywhere.
There wouldn't be so much internal or external conflict between countries.
Nobody would bomb each other or try to wipe one another out.

People in Africa or Yemen wouldn't die from hunger.
At the same time, millions of dollars worth of food wouldn’t be wasted in Saudi Arabia or America.
There would be an equal distribution of food.
Human living standards would improve.

But instead, we have divided the Earth by continents.
Then we divided further into subcontinents, countries, divisions, districts, sub-districts, unions, villages, neighborhoods, houses, families...
And by dividing this way, in the end, we’ve separated ourselves from one another.

Now, despite the vastness of the Earth and all its arrangements, we remain extremely lonely.
We pass our days within countless borders with a deep sense of helplessness.

Does that even make any sense? 😐
